Hi! I'm Vanesa,
a coffee and tea obsessed UX Researcher with some design experience based in Austin, TX.
What drives me as a researcher:
With a background in psychology, I've always been intrigued by human behavior driven from social and digital interactions. I believe we are moving from the Information Age and transitioning into the Experience Age.
As the defining characteristic of the Information Age is being able to access and control the flow of information between ourselves, we (as users and consumers) are becoming more focused on the experience of this narrative. The stories we are sharing and ideas we are creating are becoming more visual and interactive with to enhance the overall human experience.
My passion lies within the realm of understanding diverse human needs through research and bridging the gap between users and technology in order to provide an accessible and enhanced experience with technological interactions.
What drives me as an individual:
I tend to incorporate my passion for UX, Accessibility, and Inclusivity into all of my work and day-to-day life. For example, if i'm not reading books to improve my knowledge in the field then I'll find myself evaluating my personal user experience when following recipes or tutorials of different meal subscription sites or videos. When my partner and I go out and about, one of our consistent conversation topics are identifying where we come across well designed user experiences whether it be a service, product/tech interaction, or even physical layouts and environments. User experience is everywhere and I love being part of an industry that values augmenting human needs!
As a natural introvert, my preferred way to recharge when I begin feeling burn out is reading with a brewed cup of tea or coffee, cooking, watching movies with my partner, and spending quality time with our charming yet mischievous cat (Draco) and goofy dog (Oliver). Besides reading ux related books, I am also a mood reader who enjoys all kinds of genres from mystery/thriller, fantasy/sci-fi, contemporary/romance, and memoirs/classics in all age categories (middle grade, YA, and adult).
